Watertown is the county seat of Jefferson County and in close proximity to Fort Drum, a US Army military base that provides administrative and logistical support to almost 80,000 service men and women annually.  It is the largest city in New York state’s North Country Region and is close to Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, the Thousand Islands Region, and Alexandria Bay.
