Newfield is a town in Tompkins County, New York, located less than 10 miles from Ithaca. It is home to the Newfield Covered Bridge, the oldest working covered bridge in the state, and the only remaining covered bridge in the county. Newfield and Ithaca are in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country, attracting thousands of travelers each summer to enjoy Cayuga Lake, the longest of the 11 Finger Lakes. It is an area known for its spectacular waterfalls, gorges and wonderful parks and campgrounds including Buttermilk Falls State Park, Robert H. Treman State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park, Allen H. Treman State Marine Park, and more.  

During the summer and fall there are outdoor concerts at Stewart Park situated near the farmer’s market, on the southern end of Cayuga Lake. It also has a working carousel, athletic fields, a bird sanctuary and more.

Ithaca is also home to some of New York’s finest colleges: Ithaca College, Cornell University and Tompkins County Community College. The area has some of the most fertile farmland in the state, with local farmers producing grapes for award winning wines, a bounty of fruits and vegetables for local stores, and area farmers markets, including the Trumansburg and Ithaca Farmers Markets and more. There are also many wonderful farm-to-table restaurants, including the famous Moosewood Restaurant in downtown Ithaca.
